From Legacy to Lasting Impact

The Fofie Foundation finds its origins in a personal and deeply rooted connection to Ghana. Founder Dennis Toppin has Ghanaian roots and grew up with the stories, values, and commitment of his father, Nana Fofie, who always maintained a strong bond with his country of birth. Together, they shared the belief that quality and accessible education forms the foundation for a better future. This shared dream lives on, even after the passing of Nana Fofie, and continues to be the foundation of the foundation to this day.

In daily life, Dennis is active in the Netherlands as a sports-focused and socially engaged entrepreneur. Through his work, he supports young people and young adults who have lost their way, helping them step by step to find their place in society again. This same social commitment and belief that everyone deserves opportunities drives his dedication to the Fofie Foundation.

The foundation was further strengthened by the addition of Brian Giersthove, a close friend of Dennis for nearly 25 years. In his professional life, Brian works as a marketer and contributes his expertise in marketing and communication to the foundation. With his knowledge, he helps position and present the Fofie Foundation in a professional way to (potential) donors, members, and other stakeholders.

Together, Dennis and Brian are committed to honoring the legacy of Nana Fofie and turning his ideals into tangible and sustainable improvements for children in Ghana.
